MARKETING
Step 5
Congratulations, you now have a live app! Now the next step is to share your app. I would recommend sharing your app in 3 graduating steps.
1. Share your app with friends and family.
Show off your work to your closest circle! Get their feedback, thoughts, and share with them what you've been spending your time on lately.
2. Discover where your ideal users hang out on the internet.
People on the internet spend time in groups united by common interests. It's great to integrate into these groups in order to connect with potential users and share your app with them.
Examples:
- Subreddits
- Facebook groups
- Internet forums
- Discord servers
3. Start growing an audience.
If you’ve never been a social media person, this can seem daunting and I totally get it. I only started posting on social media less than a year ago and I felt completely lost when I first started. The most important part is to be genuine, be consistent, and always try to look for ways to improve your content.
My Social Media Strategy
I am currently active on 4 main platforms.
- TikTok
- YouTube
- Twitter
- Discord
Whenever I am building my apps, I “build in public” which means actively sharing progress and details as I am working on my apps. When building in public, people follow you because:
- They want to learn how you are building.
- They feel invested in the journey.
- They want to get inspiration.
Many people worry that building in public puts you at risk for copycats, but I'm a firm believer that execution is not copyable. Actually, many people have copied my app ideas but the apps they produce are completely different from mine. When people copy my apps or content, I view it as a big compliment and affirmation that what I am doing is interesting and valuable.
